Professional Background

Courtney has over 10 years of student affairs experience, previously working in the areas of Residence Life, Service Learning, Campus Events, Academic Success, Disability Services, and Career (Professional) Development. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2006 and his Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling in 2008, both from the University of Redlands. In 2009, he was hired as a Program Coordinator, and soon after became the Assistant Director for the Office of Academic Success and Disability Services at the University where he enhanced the Subject and Writing Tutoring programs, provided Academic Counseling to students individually and in groups, and created programming including the Peer Mentoring program, the probation program, and the CRLA Tutor Training program.

Since August of 2014, he has been the Associate Director and Employer Liaison for Career and Professional Development. His main responsibilities include coaching students on career development topics, leading workshops and seminars, and connecting employers with our talented students and alumni. Since 2009 he has also been an Adjunct Faculty member in the Counseling Department at Norco College, providing individual and group counseling, delivering academic success and planning presentations, and teaching courses in career exploration and college success strategies. Courtney is currently continuing his studies at the University of Redlands, pursuing his Ed.D. in Leadership for Educational Justice.
