The Redlands Institute
The Redlands Institute, founded in 2000, is an interdisciplinary, collaborative research enterprise within the University of Redlands which conducts applied research with the aid of geographic information science methods and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology together with modeling, simulation and decision support tools.
We strive to achieve practical solutions to complex problems by integrating emerging technologies for assessing and visualizing the dynamic, ecological interactions of natural environments and engineered systems, and by developing creative responses to emerging challenges that lie at the intersection of science, policy, and management.
Our research typically integrates science and technology to develop application prototypes using ESRI's ArcObjects® and other innovative technology platforms including applications for field data collection, desktop processing and server/Internet-based processing.
The Redlands Institute has more than 30 projects completed or underway, including:
- Integration of traditional sciences with Geographic Information Science and Technology
- Knowledge Management, Modeling, Visualization and Decision Support Systems
- Geographic Information System (GIS) Planning, Design and Implementation
