Subject: Security Advisory - Continued Automobile Thefts in Redlands
The city of Redlands continues to experience thefts of Honda Civics and Accords throughout the community. Unfortunately, this includes another Honda automobile theft on our campus since our Oct. 26 Security Advisory regarding these crimes. Just prior to this theft, a student saw an older white full-sized van with accident damage on the right rear, parked in a suspicious manner next to the Honda that was then stolen. The occupants of the van were only described as two individuals, one in the driver's seat and the other in the rear seat of the van. This information has been provided to the Redlands Police Department for their investigation.
As a deterrent and in an attempt to apprehend the person or persons responsible for these thefts, the Department of Public Safety continues to conduct enhanced patrols of campus parking lots and has requested a heightened presence on campus by the Redlands Police Department and the San Bernardino County Regional Auto-Theft Task Force.
As a reminder, the University Community is urged to always secure parked vehicles:
• Double-check that all doors are locked.
• Do not leave valuable items inside in plain sight.
• Park in well-lighted areas whenever possible.
• Install and set alarms, ignition immobilizers, and anti-theft devices.
• Immediately report suspicious persons or activity to Public Safety.
Our highest priority remains the safety and security of our campus community members. If you have any questions or information, please contact Public Safety at (909) 748-8888 or ext. 8888 from any campus phone.
