Subject: Safety Bulletin - Suspicious Individual/Unlawful Activity Near Campus

At approximately 9:00 a.m. today, a student reported that while jogging west of campus on Brockton Ave. near Occidental St., she was asked for directions by the occupant - an African American male, approximately 20 to 30 years of age, wearing a black ball cap - of a white car that stopped near her. After a brief exchange, the car departed. Near the University Fitness Center, the same car and driver pulled up and again summoned our student, at which point the man exposed himself to her. Our student fled and reported the incident to Public Safety which, in turn, is working with the Redlands Police Department on this incident. The perpetrator may be connected to a similar recent incident which took place several blocks west of the University.

As a reminder:

• Keep a safe distance from vehicles with occupants unknown to you.

• If an unknown individual engages you in conversation, do not hesitate to walk away or call for assistance.

• Be aware of your surroundings at all times, on and off campus.

• Immediately report any suspicious persons or activities to Public Safety.

Our highest priority remains the safety and security of our campus community. If you have any questions or information, please contact Public Safety at (909) 748-8888 or extension 8888 from any campus phone. Any off campus emergency should be reported to Redlands PD at 911.
