Subject:  Security Alert – Update

As a follow up to the security alert distributed on August 1, 2017, Public Safety received notification from the Redlands Police Department that they have identified and arrested five assailants responsible for the armed robbery on the University campus the night of July 31, 2017.  The assailants were determined to be responsible for several armed robberies in Redlands and San Bernardino this week.  Witness statements, coupled with images from the University security cameras, were instrumental in identifying the arrested individuals as the assailants in the robbery on campus.

To ensure the ongoing safety and security of our campus community, Public Safety will continue to patrol the campus on a 24/7 basis.  Any suspicious activity or individuals should be considered a serious matter and reported immediately to Public Safety at 909-748-8888 or ext. 8888 from any campus phone.

As a reminder:

  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times, on and off campus.
  • If safe retreat without confrontation is possible, attempt to run or walk away.
  • If escape is not an option during a robbery, comply with the demands of the assailant.

Our highest priority remains the safety and security of our campus community.  Any off-campus emergency should be reported to Redlands Police at 911.
