Whitehead Leadership Induction Ceremony
The School of Business will host its Fall 2010 Whitehead Leadership Society (WLS) induction ceremonies on Saturday, Oct. 23 in the Casa Loma Room, University of Redlands from 9:30-11:30 am.
The keynote speaker for the event is Kay Kallander '86, '93 Sr. VP for Strategic planning for American Baptist Home of the West.
The Whitehead Leadership Society is an organization established to encourage leadership and academic excellence within the School of Business. As facilitators of professional education and lifelong learning, members of this Society have the responsibility to provide active service and support to the university community; to foster an academic climate for enhancing student achievement; to focus on increasing productive student and faculty dialog; and to honor the tradition of the liberal arts.
Open only to School of Business students, the Society accepts peer nominations from School of Business students in their last year of study from one of the School's five business degree programs.
About the Keynote Speaker
Kay Kallander has been actively involved in health care and seniors issues for over 30 years. As a registered nurse in the acute care hospital for 12 years she cared for patients of all ages. She worked as a volunteer nurse through World Vision throughout the world.
For the last 20 years her work has focused on seniors. First as a Director of Nursing and then an Executive Director of Plymouth Village, a continuing care retirement community in Redlands, California and then as a member of the leadership team of American Baptist Homes of the West in northern California. She served five years as the Chief of Operations and now is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning.
She is a graduate of the University of Redlands with a Bachelors degree in Health Science and a Masters in Business Administration.
She serves on many local, state and national committees related to seniors.
Kallander was selected to represent the United States at the first International Alzheimer’s and E-Rotary conference in Sydney, Australia. She also recently served as a delegate to the White House Conference on Aging in Washington, D.C. She is currently serving on the Aging Services of California Board of Directors, the AAHSA House of Delegates and she is with the Leadership AAHSA program as a coach.
