An Accomplished Career

Until his retirement in 1990, Pierpoint received numerous public mentions—including a role playing as himself in the final episode of M*A*S*H—and frequently appeared¬†on Charles Kuralt’s Sunday Morning broadcasts.

Over the course of almost 40 years as an American broadcast journalist, Bob has been honored with two Emmy Awards, the Drew Pearson Prize for “Excellence in Investigative Reporting” in 1973 and the Overseas Press Club Award for “Best Radio Interpretation of Foreign Affairs.”

In addition, he received the Carr Van Anda Award for “Enduring Contributions to Journalism.”
