Subject: Assault Adjacent to Campus

During the recent Halloween weekend, University of Redlands students experienced three incidents where they were assaulted by what is believed to be non-students while walking on the peripheral streets adjacent to the University. Once incident occurred while a student was walking several blocks away from the University; in the other incidents, students were accosted off campus but in the immediate area of the University. The University was apprised of these three incidents late afternoon on Monday, November 4, 2013. At this time, Public Safety is attempting to follow up on additional information provided by the students. The only identifying information reported to date by the victims regarding the assailants, is that all were male.

  • As a precautionary measure, students are reminded to walk in groups and use well lit pathways on the interior of the campus during periods of darkness. If possible, confrontation should be avoided.
  • Remember to plan your evenings and make use of the On Campus Shuttle. The On Campus Shuttle can be reached for transportation at 909-907-2820, and remains on duty until 3 a.m. with last call at 2:30 a.m., 7 days a week (excluding the holiday schedule)
  • Immediately report any suspicious persons or activities to Public Safety

Our highest priority remains the safety and security of our campus community members. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Public Safety at 909-748-8888 or extension 8888 from any campus phone.
