Subject:          Safety Bulletin – Robbery on Brockton Ave near Occidental Dr

Early this morning at approximately 12:45 a.m., two University of Redlands students were physically assaulted and robbed of their keys, wallets, and cell phones by four Hispanic males as they were walking near the campus on Brockton Avenue near Occidental Drive.  The four robbery suspects were reported to be approximately 19 years of age, wearing dark clothing, and driving a dark gray “boxy” vehicle.  They were last seen driving west on Brockton Avenue, away from the campus.

While no weapons were seen, two of the suspects made statements to our students which led them to believe they may have had a gun.  Both students were struck with fists and possibly kicked while they were on the ground by at least two of the suspects.

The Redlands Police Department is investigating this incident and will provide any follow up information that develops.  As a reminder, please remain vigilant in being aware of your surroundings at all times, especially during hours of darkness.  If confronted by someone who wants your property, give it to them and flee the area towards a location that is well lit and occupied.  Your safety is more important than any property.  Travel in groups and to the best extent possible, walk within the inner sidewalks of the campus as opposed to the surrounding city streets.

If you see or hear anything that gives you cause for concern in any way, please notify Public Safety at extension 8888, or call 911 immediately.  Your safety on and around our campus remains our highest priority here at the University of Redlands.
