POSITION: Van Shuttle Driver (PART-TIME)

MONTHS/HOURS: 9 months/ August - April, (2 days/week, 8 hours/day)
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $11.00-$12.38 per hour
AVAILABLE: August 18, 2014

DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Public Safety Patrol Sergeant, responds to students who call for rides to and from various locations on campus and within the City of Redlands.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Transports students in a University vehicle to and from various locations on and off campus.
- Communicates with Public Safety by operating telephone patch and hand held radio to report location, time restraints and any activity observed as unusual.
- Adheres to all safety and/or housekeeping policies and procedures.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.
- Performs other related duties or special projects, as assigned or directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of driving experience transporting passengers. Must possess a valid “Class B” driver's license with a “P” passenger endorsement, and valid Medical certificate on the date of hire. Position requires considerable knowledge of the safe operation of the transportation of passengers; California vehicle code and first aid; working knowledge of vehicle maintenance. Effective verbal communication with clear speech, by radio and telephone patch; physical ability to lift luggage required. Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors and students; interpret and apply a variety of rules, regulations and procedures; be able to adhere to strict schedules. Physical examination must be successfully completed and a DMV printout showing a good driving record is required upon an offer of employment. Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
