Professor of Environmental Studies

Timothy Krantz, a professor of environmental studies at the University of Redlands, is an expert on a diverse range of environmental topics.

Timely issues in which Krantz has expertise include global warming, California’s greenest cities, the declining Salton Sea, oil and fossil fuels, worldwide sustainability efforts, endangered species and the move to buy locally grown food.

He has been on sabbatical in Austria recently, serving as a Fulbright Distinguished Lecturer at Vienna Technical University and facilitating an exchange of environmental policy and technology between Austria and California.

He is working with an Austrian-based company and the City of Redlands on the development of a power plant that will use trash and sewer sludge to generate energy.

Krantz has a Ph.D. in geography from the University of California, Berkeley; a master’s degree in Latin American studies from Stanford; and a bachelor’s degree in ethnobotany from the University of Redlands.
