Thurber rides in parade

University of Redlands bulldog mascot Thurber, wearing his holiday best, proudly participated in the Redlands Kiwanis annual Christmas Parade Dec. 4 in downtown Redlands. Thurber, who recently took over mascot duties from his grandpa, Duke, rode in his customized Radio Flyer wagon gifted to him by the University Town & Gown.

Also on hand were members of Maroon & Gray, who took the message of the University to the community at the parade.

Redlands Kiwanis organizes and sponsors the annual Christmas Parade, which is a long-held tradition in the city of Redlands.

There are more than 1,700 trees on the University of Redlands campus.

In April 2010, it was designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Redlands is among just three other colleges or universities in California to receive this designation.
