Phillip Doolittle, COO
A University of distinction. A place to belong.
In the University’s own 100-year retrospective “With Unbounded Confidence,” it is not uncommon to hear Phil described as “a character,” the kind belonging distinctively to the special community that makes up the Redlands experience. A leader. Insightful. Witty. A singular personality.
In his current role, Phil Doolittle continues to underscore those things “we do well” at the University of Redlands through his leadership as an institutional planner and his abilities in keeping the University forward-looking.
He spearheads the University’s environmental stewardship efforts to incorporate sustainable policies and practices in our planning for land use, construction, transportation and energy use.
Phil’s decades of engagement with the collegiate and local community have made him both a fixture and a witness to many transformations—personal, organizational, and historical. He often affirms that the University’s roots in character formation run deep, and are as foundational as the huge, old and beautiful trees and classic architecture that makes the place a joy to live, work and play in.
Phil Doolittle is dedicated to the University’s mission to make successful scholars and citizens of those who traverse these grounds. And along the way, he helps provide a true sense of community, a real sense of place and of each other.
“There is something magical that happens in this place and we do this time and time again, year after year,” he says. “We take good students and turn them into great people.”
