Graduate student earns prestigious scholarship

Jessica Gutierrez, a graduate student in the University of Redlands Master's Program in Communicative Disorders, is a recipient of this year's American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Graduate Student Scholarship. This prestigious award is given annually to only seven students selected from universities across the U.S. She will be acknowledged at the Founders Breakfast at the ASHA Convention in Philadelphia on Nov. 19.

Ms. Gutierrez was also selected to participate in ASHA's Minority Student Leadership Program Class of 2010, a set of leadership-focused educational programs and activities held at the Convention that are designed to enhance students' leadership skills and provide them with opportunities to interact with leaders in the professions of speech, language, and hearing sciences. As a participant in this program, Ms. Gutierrez will be financially supported by ASHA to travel to the Convention in Philadelphia and will give a presentation before a panel of scholars.
