Experts used to say that adults could expect to have at least three or four careers during their lifetime. However, with rapid changes in corporate loyalties – along with ever faster development of new industries and technologies, the U.S. Department of Labor now estimates that today’s adults will have had between ten to fourteen jobs by the time they reach the age of thirty-eight.
It’s no wonder so many adults of all ages are going back to college to learn new careers – careers that didn’t even exist only a few years ago, and most of which require a college degree just to walk through the door. Advisors say that making a successful midlife switch is all about getting started and staying focused. Most importantly, they also say it’s never too late to change careers, and change your life.
