Students Return to Campus

Redlands students returned to campus this week after taking some time off for Winter Break.

College of Arts and Sciences students have been busy getting resettled in their dorms, turning their attention to a new semester of classes, and gearing up for a variety of upcoming on-campus events. Student and community oriented events planned for January include:

  • Dinner and a movie nights in the Commons each Friday in January at 5 p.m.
  • A celebration of Outdoor Programs Week Jan. 4-10. Events include a Dutch oven cookout Jan. 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the fire pit and a rock climbing wall on the quad Jan. 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • A Martin Luther King themed worship service Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Chapel, followed by a communitywide observance Jan. 19 at noon at the Frederick Loewe Performance Hall.
  • A Guest Artist Series Concert featuring Piotr Zukowski on piano Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. in Frederick Loewe Performance Hall. Faculty and student recitals also are planned throughout the month.

Thurber, an English bulldog, is the University's mascot.

He is named after Clarence Howe Thurber, University president from 1933-37.
