A Celtic Christmas

December 2, 2008—Holiday music with a Celtic twist will be featured during an upcoming Redlands event.

The Redlands Community Music Association will present A Celtic Christmas Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. in the university's Memorial Chapel.

Proceeds will benefit the Mission Gables Bowl House, the future home of Redlands Community Music Association performances.

Tickets are $50 for preferred seating, $35 for general seating and $15 for children 12 and younger. For information or tickets, call the University of Redlands events office at 909-748-8116.

The event will feature performances by Celtic Spring, the Kevin R. Blandford Memorial Pipe Band and pianist Eddie Gao.

Celtic Spring is made up of six siblings, ranging in age from 8 to 23, and their parents. The sound of Irish fiddles dominates much of the group's music.

The Kevin R. Blandford Memorial Pipe Band has strong Inland ties. The band is named for its founder, who started the group after teaching bagpipes through private lessons and at Upland High School. The band was renamed in Blandford's honor in 2003, after he died.

The concert opener will be Gao, a Redlands High School student and Redlands Bowl Young Artists' Auditions winner. He will be performing Christmas music on the piano.
