New Director Joins Alumni Relations
A Redlands native with extensive experience in the field of advancement and in organizational management has been named to the post of Director of Alumni Relations at the University of Redlands.
Paul C. Granillo has served for the past 11 years as a priest in a senior leadership position with the Diocese of San Bernardino, which serves more than 1.2 million people in the Inland area.
As director of alumni relations for the university, he will be responsible for alumni outreach efforts. He will plan and implement a variety of events, including reunions, travel programs, Town & Gown activities and other regional events. He also will be responsible for recruiting and assisting a variety of alumni volunteers.
During his time with the diocese, Granillo served as Priest Secretary to the Bishop and was responsible for oversight, planning and coordination of the social, political and religious affairs of the CEO of the diocese, which is the Inland area's largest not-for-profit corporation.
He also served as the Director of Communications, during which time he was responsible for all external and internal communications and was the media spokesperson, as the Director of External Outreach and as Director of Development. He grew and managed an annual fund campaign of $7 million and planned fundraising events, including an annual dinner for over 600 guests. He also coordinated a variety of special events, including sports tournaments, rallies and community outreach events and planned and led travel abroad.
Granillo is active in the community as a member of the Rotary Club of Redlands, the Inland Action Inc. Board of Directors and the Redlands Community Foundation Board of Directors; he is a former board member of the California State University, San Bernardino, Alumni Association and the Arrowhead United Way.
Granillo is a graduate of Cal State San Bernardino and holds a Masters of Divinity degree from St. John’s Seminary and a Licentiate in Canon Law (J.C.L.) from Catholic University of America. He joined the Alumni Relations office this week, taking over from Interim Director John Serbein.
