Professor Jill Harris to Present Mini-Course During Homecoming Weekend

Will the American economy rebound any time soon?

It’s one of several questions that will be explored during a mini-course planned for homecoming weekend at the University of Redlands.

School of Business Economics Professor Jill Harris will present “Some Good News from the Dismal Science” Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. in Gregory Hall room 176. The event is part of the university’s homecoming festivities, which kick off Friday and continue through Sunday.

Harris also is set to discuss what variables might be used to predict what could happen next in the U.S. economy, as well as the regional economy. She also will explore whether economic models are still useful.

The professor also will work to place the current economic crisis in a historical perspective.

Harris currently teaches Understanding Today’s Economy in the bachelor of arts in management program and has taught managerial economics for the master’s in business administration program.

She holds a Ph.D. in economics from Oklahoma State University and a master’s in financial economics from UC Riverside. Her fields of concentration include microeconomics, industrial organization and econometrics.
