This month has been a month of many accomplishments for the Bulldog’s Women’s Volleyball Team. After earning the team’s first-ever Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship, Redlands also won the inaugural SCIAC Postseason Tournament to gain the automatic berth to the "Big Show."

The Bulldogs hosted the 2009 NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship for the West Region, welcoming Colorado College, Pacific Lutheran University, the University of Puget Sound, Cal Lutheran University, the University of La Verne, and Chapman University to the three-day event.

Additionally, Bulldogs have garnered four All-Region awards from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Junior outside hitter Jackie Hamilton, junior middle blocker Megan Phillips, and senior libero Lauren Harding earned the honor as student-athletes, while Head Coach Mari Burningham was named the West Region Coach of the Year.

Coach Burningham also gains her first Region Coach of the Year award after leading the Bulldogs to their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC)Championship with a 12-2 record, which surpasses the program’s best for conference wins by three.

After capturing the inaugural SCIAC Postseason Tournament title, Burningham has guided the Bulldogs to the NCAA tournament for the second time in her six-year career.

Hamilton, Phillips, and Harding now move onto the national ballot for All-America consideration, and Burningham now represents the West Region on the AVCA National Coach of the Year ballot. Both awards will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 17, at the 2009 AVCA Convention in Omaha, Nebraska.
