Lights and Shadows

The University of Redlands Chapel Singers will present ‘Lights and Shadows,’ a concert of choral music exploring various contrasting themes such as life and death, love and hate, and joy and sadness on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m.

The Chapel singers, under the direction of Dr. Jean-Sébastien Vallée, will perform music by Bach, Byrd, Casals, Mozart, Lauridsen, and a set of Spirituals from the Oratorio A Child of Our Time by Michael Tippett.

As one of three major choral ensembles at the university, the Chapel Singers have performed throughout the United States and in Europe.

The ensemble will be accompanied by Stephanie Lovell, pianist, Frederick Swann, organist, and a chamber instrumental ensemble.

There are more than 1,700 trees on the University of Redlands campus.

In April 2010, it was designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Redlands is among just three other colleges or universities in California to receive this designation.
