School of Education 10th Summer Institute
The all-day conference features keynote speaker Dr. Douglas Fisher
REDLANDS, Calif. (July 1, 2014) – The University of Redlands School of Education’s Center for Educational Justice (CEJ) will host its Summer Institute on July 8 at its Redlands campus. The conference co-sponsored by the Riverside County School Boards Association will feature a keynote address by Professor of Educational Leadership at San Diego State University Dr. Douglas Fisher on “Common Core: Academic Contexts, Complex Texts, Close Reading, Assessment and More.” Now in its tenth year, the Summer Institute on Leadership for Educational Justice is sure to inspire and motivate the educators attending.
The audience will also hear a panel conversation of superintendents on issues related to preparation in the era of common core, take part in workshops led by scholars and practitioners, and attend a poster session highlighting current research dissertations by new doctoral graduates.

Workshops on Common Core application include:
• Demonstration Lessons: Applying Common Core will be presented by Corona-Norco, Beaumont, Fontana, San Jacinto, and Redlands Unified School Districts.
• Common Core Demonstrations: Close Reading, Project-Based Learning: Science and Social Science, Mathematics, Collaboration Practices, Professional Development for Principals, Literacy, and Cultural Proficiency.
Superintendents’ Forum: “Common Core, LCFF, LCAP and Assessment: How Ready Are We?”
