New President for Town & Gown

Erin Sanborn

Erin Sanborn, president, Town & Gown

Redlands native Erin Sanborn is taking on the role of president for the University's Town & Gown 2014-15 year.

Erin has served as the associate director of Community Service Learning at the University of Redlands since March 2011. Her main responsibility is supervising professional staff who coordinate children's programs and volunteer outreach. She has also taught serving learning activity courses and led alternative spring break service trips.

Prior to working at the University, Erin worked 10 years for the City of Redlands Recreation Bureau managing the Community Center and programs offered there. She also worked as an administrative assistant at the Redlands Fire Department.

Erin studied education as an undergraduate, but the highlight of her education was receiving a masters of arts in management at the University of Redlands. During that time she was introduced to the work the Office of Community Service Learning was doing and traveled to Denmark and Sweden to study sustainable business. The career move to higher education has been a rewarding and positive one for Erin.

She serves on the Redlands Service Club Council and the San Bernardino County Probation Department’s Youth Accountability Board.

"My experience with Town & Gown has been positive and rewarding and I have grown to truly believe in our mission. I have been involved in the Redlands community for a long time and when I started working for the University it was a whole new world of wonderful things–events, guest speakers, educators and students who care about their education and service. Town & Gown is a bridge to connect these entities and I am honored to be a part it!"

Erin assumes the role filled for the past two years by Shelli Stockton, who now serves the University as Director of Alumni & Community Relations.

"It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve as president of Town & Gown the past two years," Shelli said. "Under the leadership of a terrific executive committee, we worked hard to update and improve existing events and add additional ones to further engage more of our membership. Redlands, the city and the University, is a perfect place for a Town & Gown organization because the two are such great compliments to each other. I know the opportunities for the two to work together will continue to grow in the years to come."

Erin will have three vice presidents who serve as the executive committee for Town & Gown.

Chris Walker, Fundraising & Membership Recruitment, 1st Vice President

Former Town & Gown President Dr. Christopher Walker has again joined the executive board in a new role of first vice president. He is professor emeritus in the Department of Communicative Disorders at the University of Redlands where he continues teaching and clinical supervision. He served as a professor in the department for 35 years, 17 years as department chair. In addition, he continues providing direct clinical services to young adults in the Disabled Student Programs and Services at Mt. San Antonio Community College and has presented on a variety of topics, including fluency, voice, and cleft palate. Chris has served on numerous boards and in associations professionally and is highly regarded in his field both locally and nationally.

In addition to his role on the University of Redlands Town and Gown, he has also served as president of the 150-member Rotary Club of Redlands.

Mike Reynolds, University Community Relations, 2nd Vice President

Mike Reynolds '84 is a University alum who is well-known in Redlands as a community volunteer.

She has been honored as Associate of the Year for the Redlands Bowl and in 2011 received the Florence Beeler award.

A Redlands resident for more than 16 years, Myra lives with John, her husband of 28 years. They have two children, Dane, 25 and Sydney 22. When Myra isn't volunteering, she runs her business Quality Approach, Inc., of which she is president and CEO.
