Athletics Paints Field for ESPN

Go long!

In January, the University of Redlands athletics facilities team was asked to paint the field lines and logos for the 2014 ESPN Ultimate Tailgate Party pre-game event for the Rose Bowl.

The team, which consisted of athletics facilities supervisor Kelly Cooper and athletic grounds specialists Mike Myers and Cameron Chilcoat, was invited by ESPN to create a mock field for the BCS Championship Game between Auburn and Florida State.

"It was a great experience and ESPN was happy with the services we provided," Kelly said. "What they asked for and what they got was to the same standard we provide for our students here at Redlands. We take a lot of pride in what we do."

Kelly and the team are a unique part of the University of Redlands, as they operate apart from the rest of campus facilities.

There are more than 1,700 trees on the University of Redlands campus.

In April 2010, it was designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Redlands is among just three other colleges or universities in California to receive this designation.
