Redlands to Host 9th Summer Institute

University of Redlands School of Education will host 9th Summer Institute

The all-day conference features internationally-known speaker Marilyn Cochran-Smith

REDLANDS, June 28, 2013– The University of Redlands School of Education’s Center for Educational Justice (CEJ) will host its Summer Institute on July 9 at its Redlands campus. The conference will feature a keynote address by internationally known speaker and author Dr. Marilyn Cochran-Smith on “Preparing Educators: Learning to Teach for Social Justice.” Now in its ninth year, the Summer Institute on Educational Justice is sure to inspire and motivate the educators attending.

The audience will also hear a panel conversation of superintendents on issues related to diversity and access in the era of common core, take part in workshops led by scholars and practitioners, and attend a poster session highlighting current research dissertations by new doctoral graduates.

“The Center addresses the what, why, and how questions about educational justice,” Dr. Jose Lalas, director of the CEJ, said. “For this purpose, the Center holds a summer institute where we invite expert theorists and researchers on a variety of issues that could inform us and could inform educators, teachers, administrators, counselors, and the broader school community about their work and how their work enriches our view of educational and social justice.”
