University of Redlands to host RED Series event at the Hollywood Tower

The first of three events will feature economy and faculty expert Johannes Moenius

REDLANDS, May 13, 2013 – The University of Redlands will hold on Thursday, May 23 at the Hollywood Tower in Los Angeles its first event in the RED Series which will feature Professor Johannes Moenius who will be discussing business trends that affect small to medium-sized businesses. Johannes Moenius is the founding director of the Institute of Spatial Economic Analysis and holds the William R. and Sue Johnson Endowed Chair of Spatial Economic Analysis and Regional Planning. The RED Series stand for Research, Education and Discovery.

STAR 98.7 DJ Kennedy will be interviewing Dr. Johannes Moenius and they will be discussing topics such as:

  • What businesses are trending in key areas?
  • Demographic profiles and how small business start-ups can use data to help them start their business.
  • How to use new technology for startup business?

The event is geared towards entrepreneurs and small business owners, and STAR 98.7 will be raffling a $5,000 prize to a company executive in attendance to help with his or her business.

Moenius joined the University of Redlands in the fall of 2005, where he teaches courses in international business. Before that he taught at the Kellogg School of Management and was also a visiting scholar at the University of Tokyo. He studied Management Science at Bamberg University and Economics at the Technical University in Dresden, Queen’s University, Canada and the University of California, San Diego, where he received his Ph.D.

He has presented his work in more than 80 talks at universities, conferences, and government institutions. His work has won two best paper awards and appeared, amongst others in The Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Development Economics, and the International Journal of Industrial Organization.
