Lauren Zehner ’13 is just the latest member of her family to become a Bulldog for life.

“I’m from Portland, Oregon, and I chose to come to the University of Redlands because both of my older siblings came here,” she said. “I visited and fell in love with the students and faculty, and knew it was the place I wanted to go.”

A communicative disorders major, Zehner spent much of her time in the water, earning All-American honorable mention and multiple SCIAC honors for swimming. She was named Team MVP and the Frank Serrao Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

“It was a great environment and I made a lot of friends,” she said. “I will never forget it.”

When she wasn’t swimming or being involved in clubs and organizations, Zehner could be found at the Truesdail Center for Communicative Disorders.

“For my capstone, I was able to work there with little kids,” she said. “I learned a lot through the experience. I’ve made a lot of friends and close connections for the future, and feel prepared to go on with the rest of my life.”

Zehner plans on attending graduate school, where she will study to become a speech language pathologist.

“I mainly want to work with little kids in a clinic, but the University of Redlands has prepared me to work in any setting,” she said.

Thurber really knows his stuff.

Thurber learned The Och Tamale when he was just a pup. Don't know it yet?
