University of Redlands to offer general education classes

GetYourClasses.com initiative addresses the lack of class availability in Southern California

REDLANDS, April 15, 2013 – The University of Redlands School of Continuing Studies will offer general education courses eligible for transfer to the California State University, University of California, and California Community Colleges systems beginning in June through an initiative called GetYourClasses.com. The courses fill an important need for many students who are on waiting lists for basic courses in California’s public colleges, a delay that increases the cost and duration of college and reduces the number of students who earn degrees.

GetYourClasses.com¬†includes courses such as Accounting, Business and Public Speaking, Business Writing, College Algebra, College Reading and Writing, Constitutional Law, First-Year Spanish, Introduction to Academic Writing, Green Business, Religion in America, and World History, to name a few. Courses will be offered at all eight of the University’s Southern California locations, which include Burbank, Rancho Cucamonga, Redlands, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Ana, Temecula, and Torrance.

“GetYourClasses.com courses will be taught in the traditional classroom format, in person, so that students receive the solid foundation that only comes with a personalized classroom experience,” said David Fite, vice president for academic affairs at the University of Redlands.

The GetYourClasses.com¬†initiative supports community colleges and public universities so that their students can graduate from their institution as planned. “We really hope it will help improve retention and graduation rates,” says Fite.

The University of Redlands GetYourClasses.com initiative will offer top-rate instruction at $395 per unit, with a $50 discount for students who register by June 1. There are no extra fees, parking is free, and there are no admissions requirements.
