'American Dream'

American Dream cast

For the first time, the University of Redlands Theatre Arts Department is presenting a department produced student main stage show, Edward Albee’s American Dream.

The show will run April 4 to 7, with performances at 8 p.m. on April 4, 5 and 6 and 2 p.m. April 6 in the Frederick Loewe Theatre, 1200 E. Colton Ave., Redlands.

Albee’s satire explores a family’s quest to keep up in a materialistic society. Showcasing the kind of chaos that is often concealed by “perfection,” the show exposes their outrageous determination to have a quality family.

Directed by Brianne Lopez ’13, American Dream features a diverse group of talented seniors. The cast includes Ron Blakely ’13 as Grandma, Hayden Todd ’13 as Mommy, Nick Tellier ’13 as Daddy, Reed Blakemore ’13 as Young Man, and Samantha Corso ’15 as Mrs. Barker. American Dream has additional support from stage manager Mandy Nussbaum ’13 and assistant stage manager Elizabeth Bluth ’15, with character development by Jeremy Wiley ’13, scenic design by Sarah Perez ’13, costume design by Cambria Chichi ’13, and lighting design by Leah Ramillano ’13.

Tickets are $12 general admission, $8 for seniors and students with University identification.
