New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation
September 2, 2015 - September 7, 2015
New Student Orientation Schedule (Final)
New Student Orientation will help you:
- Settle into your new community at the University of Redlands, whether it's in your residence hall room, the classrooms, the Commons, or the library.
- Connect with your fellow classmates, faculty and student leaders.
- Immerse yourself in this new experience, and familiarize yourself with your new surroundings and all the resources available to you.
Orientation programs are mandatory and you should come prepared to fully participate in all scheduled events. Although Monday, September 7 is Labor Day, events are scheduled so don't miss out. Remember, classes start on Tuesday, September 8th!
Mandatory Orientation Registration
All new students are required to check-in at New Student Orientation Registration on Wednesday, September 2nd, between 8 a.m. and noon in the Hunsaker University Center lobby.
Student ID photos will be taken and your University of Redlands official Student ID card will be given to you. Various vendors will also be on site for students who would like to sign up for their services (e.g., cable, banking, etc.). Public Safety will also be present to issue parking permits or a bicycle registration sticker to those students who register their car and/or bike. Once you complete Orientation Registration, you can proceed to your residence hall and begin to move in if you are living on campus.
Mandatory Forms and Online Check-In
In your deposit confirmation letter, you will receive your “user ID and password.” You should go to my.Redlands.edu and log on to verify your status and monitor your progress on clearing the mandatory forms. Remember to frequently check your University email and your my.Redlands account to see which outstanding items (e.g., bill, immunizations, loan documents, etc.) still need to be completed. Starting in mid-August, new students can access the “online check-in” site, which informs the University a student is attending. You must complete the online check-in process by the end of your first week of classes.
First Year Seminar Class
The opportunity to start one of your most important classes prior to the start of school happens during Orientation. The First Year Seminar (FYS) class allows you the chance to become acclimated slowly, with the help of one professor, to the academic environment, other faculty, and administrative support. Your FYS professor also serves as your academic advisor and will assist you with class registration during New Student Orientation.
Parents and Families
The University welcomes parents, guardians, and families of our first year students! We are pleased that your student decided to join the Bulldog family.
There is a day-and-a-half program (Wednesday, September 2 - Thursday, September 3) during New Student Orientation designed to introduce you to resources available for your student, provide information about how resources work, and offer an opportunity to ask questions.
Look for the parent schedule & programming in the final New Student Orientation Schedule.
