University of Redlands golfer Bobby Holden loves the pressure and pride he feels when representing his team and school in an event. Holden had those feelings last spring when Redlands competed at the NCAA Division III Championships. He felt that pride again last summer when the former Royal High standout played in the U.S. Amateur.
Holden expects those feelings to be even stronger when he takes part in the Patriot All-America Invitational Dec. 27-31 at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Phoenix.

He was a strong person, and developed a strong political science program at Valley College, according to his brother-in-law Kent Hayden.

University of Redlands sophomore Danielle Hillyer spent most of Friday trying to make sense of the mass slayings in Connecticut. In the midst of finals, Hillyer, 19, was struggling to do so.
"I saw the courage of the teachers who tried to help the kids," she said. "They have inspired me to be strong. It is still tough to see." Hillyer was one of about 50 students to attend an impromptu candlelight vigil Friday night in the university's chapel.
