University of Redlands Wind Ensemble Concert

 
REDLANDS, Oct. 4, 2012- The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Eddie Smith, will perform Tuesday, October 16t at 8:00 p.m. in Memorial Chapel. The 45 member ensemble comprised of the University of Redlands School of Music’s most outstanding performers constantly receives praise for their exciting and exacting programming, beautiful musicality and masterful technical facility. This concert will feature works by Gustav Holst including the Second Suite for Military Band and Hammersmith, a work Holst felt was one of his finest offerings; Percy Grainger’s The Gum-Suckers March, John Estacio’s Frenergy, and George Gershwin’s American in Paris.

The Wind Ensemble is pleased to announce a special guest performance by the Presidio Brass Quintet. This group is recognized for their virtuosity, enthusiasm and flawless performance skills over a wide spectrum of literature. The quintet will delight the audience with a special arrangement of Gershwin’s American in Paris.
