University of Redlands Grounds Crew

November 1, 2011—The University of Redlands’ Grounds Crew received a 2011 Green Star Award from the Professional Grounds Management Society. The award was presented on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the 39th Annual Green Star Awards Banquet in Louisville, Kentucky. This award is presented annually and brings national recognition to grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence. Jeff McClintock, Manager of Grounds and Waste Management, accepted the award on behalf of the University.

Grand, Honor and Merit Awards are offered in 15 categories, covering all types of private, public commercial and industrial landscapes. The University of Redlands received one of three Honor awards presented in the University and College Grounds category. The other Honor award recipients were Sam Houston State University and UNC Chapel Hill. The Grand award for University and College Grounds was awarded to Aurora University.

The goals of the Green Star Professional Grounds Management Awards program are:

  • To bring national recognition to grounds manicured with a high degree of excellence.
  • To recognize individual professional efforts leading to high maintenance standards and high quality appearance of the landscape.
  • To challenge those responsible for maintenance of grounds throughout the country to achieve a higher level of excellence.

In sponsoring this awards program, the Professional Grounds Management Society wishes to extend its mission in promoting well-maintained landscapes throughout the country.
