Agreement makes Redlands education possible for RUSD grads

Historic partnership with Redlands Unified School District offers scholarship, guaranteed admission and more.

Officials from the University of Redlands and Redlands Unified School District signed a memorandum of understanding Nov. 15 that guarantees admission to the University for all RUSD graduates who meet specific requirements.

The agreement provides students with a minimum $10,000 scholarship, a guaranteed seamless admission process, overnight campus visits and a four-year graduation pledge.

UR President Ralph Kuncl, RUSD Superintendent Lori Rhodes, and RUSD Board President Patty Holohan signed the MOU at the school district’s November board meeting, acknowledging the longstanding partnership between the University and the district.

“Many students don't think of the University in their backyard when planning for college, while others believe a private college education isn't affordable for them,” said Kuncl. “This agreement represents what is possible for RUSD students in the future, starting in 2017.”

UR Vice President for Enrollment Kevin Dyerly and mascot Thurber joined the RUSD Board for the signing of the historic agreement.
