New Student

The University of Redlands VA Certifying Official works to correctly and quickly process your education benefits claim. Therefore, it is very important to submit all of the required documentation and to make sure they are complete and accurate.

To facilitate your certification to the Department of VA; you must be certified for each course/semester for which you use VA education benefits.

Apply for VA Educational Benefits at www.ebenefits.va.gov and complete one of the following applications:  The application is electronically submitted to the VA for processing.

1. VA Form 22-1990 for:
a) Active Duty Service (Veteran)
b) Reservist
c) National Guardsman 

2. VA Form 22-5490 for:
a) Spouses/Dependents'
b)John Fry Scholarship

3. VA Form 22-1990e for:
a) Transfer of Entitlement (TOE/TEB) 

Complete the following forms and submit to the University Military and Veteran Services office via Fax (909) 335-4090 or scan/email to military@redlands.edu Complete the following forms and submit to the University Military and Veteran Services office via Fax (909) 335-4090 or scan/email to military@redlands.edu

a) Military Student Agreement
b) Military Authorization for Release of Information and Military
c) Once VA completes your application for VA Educational Benefits, you will receive a Certificate of  Eligibility; you must submit this form to the University Military and Veteran Services Office to avoid being dropped from your classes for non-payment.

Returning Student

Contact the Office to restart your benefits if you have not attended the University in six months or more.

Transfer Student

The University of Redlands VA Certifying Official works to correctly and quickly process your education benefits claim. Therefore, it is very important to submit all of the required documentation and to make sure they are complete and accurate.

To facilitate your certification to the Department of VA; you must be certified each course/semester for which you use VA education benefits.

If you have utilized benefits before, but are changing institutions, complete the Change of Training / Program form at www.ebenefits.va.gov.  The form is automatically submitted and processed by the VA.

1. VA Form 22-1995 for:
a) Active Duty Service (Veteran)
b) Reservist
c) National Guardsman
d) Transfer of entitlement (TOE/ TEB) 

2.VA Form 22-5495 for:
a) Spouses/Dependents'
b) John Fry Scholarship

Additionally

If you are taking classes at the University of Redlands and the classes are required for your major/approved minor at another institution; you will need to submit a copy of your class schedule to that institution.  The institution will then supply the University of Redlands with a letter verifying your classes are required and that the University of Redlands will certify your benefits for classes taken here.

Vocational Rehabilitation Program Students 

If you have been approved for the Vocational Rehabilitation Program, you will need to ensure that your assigned Department of Veteran Affairs case manager has submitted an authorization (DVA 28-1905; Authorization and Certification of Entrance or Re-Entrance into Rehabilitation and Certification of Status) to the University of Redlands Military and Veteran Services Office prior to the start of the semester you will be attending.

You must submit the following forms:

a) Military Student Agreement
b) Military Authorization for Release of Information and Military
c) Military Student Policy and Procedures
d) Copy of  your 28-1905
