Stauffer Complex

Truly a remarkable milestone in the life of the University of Redlands, the campus' Stauffer Center for Science, Mathematics and Environmental Studies houses all of the University's outstanding teaching and research programs in the sciences.

The first two buildings of the center opened in fall 2000, the result of a $18.5 million fund raising campaign with 550 donors. Hedco Hall for Biology and Chemistry houses 43,300 square feet of laboratories and offices for those departments. The 13,500-square-foot Gregory Hall houses science classrooms and the 76-seat Robert E. Evans Auditorium.

Phase II of the project concluded in 2006 with the opening of two more facilities. The 14,484-square-foot Lewis Hall houses the Department of Environmental Studies, the graduate program in Geographic Information Systems, and the Center for Spatial Studies. Appleton Hall houses 25,366 square feet of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics Department classrooms.

The Stauffer Center has been designed to reflect the interdisciplinary, collaborative mode of teaching at a liberal arts and sciences university.
