Blood and Bone Marrow Drive

The 3rd annual Cece Svenson Blood and Bone Marrow Drive will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Orton Center.

The event is held in honor of Cece Svenson, the daughter of Prof. Art Svenson, who died from complications of leukemia in 2012 at the age of nine.

“It’s a great cause,” Dan Burfeind, intramural and wellness programming coordinator, said. “It’s a really great way to give back, and also a nice way of remembering.”

The drive is sponsored by City of Hope. Students can sign up to donate or volunteer at the event at the Volunteer Center in Hunsaker, or walk-in the day of the drive. For those who cannot donate blood, it is still possible to join the marrow registry; you must be between the ages of 18 and 44, willing to donate to any patient in need, and meet the health guidelines.
