The Merry Widow


The University of Redlands School of Music will present Franz Lehár’s “The Merry Widow” as its 2014 opera.

“The Merry Widow” tells the tale of how a wealthy widow, her former fiancé, and a bankrupt nation maneuver between love and the love of money. This production will be directed by Marco Schindelmann, with conductor Co Boi Nguyen, video design by Leslie Weinberg, and video jockey Cash Tijerina.

Performances will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5, 2014, in the Memorial Chapel. The production will be presented in English.

Tickets will be available at the door, $12 general admission, $8 for students and seniors with ID.

There are more than 1,700 trees on the University of Redlands campus.

In April 2010, it was designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Redlands is among just three other colleges or universities in California to receive this designation.
