Awards of Distinction

The University of Redlands Town & Gown is seeking nominations for its annual Awards of Distinction to be conferred Feb. 1, 2014 at the Awards of Distinction dinner in Orton Center on campus.

The awards committee is encouraging anyone in the campus community and the public to submit nominations for deserving Inland Empire citizens for their personal and professional accomplishments, and selfless service to our community.

Nominations for those who have shown exemplary commitment to the public good through volunteerism, community involvement, or outstanding achievement in their field will be accepted through Oct. 5. Submission information is available online. Submissions should be comprehensive, as the decision to confer an award is based solely on the information provided.

Traditionally, nominees do not know they are being nominated for this honor. This can often make filling out the nomination form challenging.

Helpful submission tips:
• Work with others who know the nominee and fill out the form together.
• Try to discreetly obtain a copy of the nominee’s resume, if they have one.
• Use the questions on page two to help shape your nomination.
• Attach additional pages, press clippings, or other supporting documents.

Formerly the Women of Distinction awards, the honor is now available for men as well as women after a change made last year by the Town & Gown Board of Directors. In 2012, Jeff Waldron was the first man to receive the recognition for his work on the renovation of Mission Gables House for the Redlands Community Music Association.
