Speaker's Bureau

Rosanne OBrien

Rosanne O’Brien, an alumna and former vice president of Northrop Grumman Corporation, will share her insights about the business world during a free Speaker’s Bureau Event in Santa Ana.

“Leadership, Achieving Excellence and Overcoming Obstacles in Your Career” will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the University of Redlands Santa Ana Campus. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

“Rosanne has been a good friend to the University for quite some time now,” Bruce Rawding, associate program director for the School of Business, said. “She was a speaker at our Commencement, and also spoke during a Whitehead Leadership Society induction. We’ve enjoyed seeing her in action.”

O’Brien, who received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Redlands, was vice president of communications at Northrop Grumman, where she coordinated internal and external communications. During her long career, O’Brien also served as senior vice president and director of corporate relations at Glendale Federal Bank, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys Town of Southern California and the Special Olympics for Southern California.

“She is a pioneer,” Rawding said. “With her history in banking and aerospace, she is a real trailblazer. She was one of the first females to break the glass ceiling.”

O’Brien’s presentation will include information on developing self-confidence by embracing opportunities, going beyond your comfort zone, reaching upper management by developing a vision for your career, and navigating changing ethical standards in the work place.

“People will benefit from hearing about her experience in executive and leadership positions within a large, multinational corporation like Northrup Grumman,” Rawding said. “It will be inspirational for those on a job search, because she talks very candidly about her stepping stone being an education here at Redlands, which led to her first job. That’s the draw of Redlands; come here, earn a degree, and then be successful. Here’s an example.”

Space for this event is limited. Please RSVP by Sept. 20, 2013 to santaana@redlands.edu or 714-549-2006.

The University of Redlands Santa Ana campus is at 200 Sandpointe Ave., Ste. 300, Santa Ana, CA 92707.
