Blood and Bone Marrow Drive

University of Redlands Dr. Art Svenson asked that instead of the traditional President's High Table Dinner celebration to honor his Professor of the Year award that a blood and bone marrow drive be held to honor his daughter Cece Svenson who died in 2012 from complications of leukemia.

The public was invited to this free event March 27 which was co-sponsored by Mortar Board and the City of Hope, in conjunction with the Volunteer Center.

Many students, faculty and campus community came out to support Svenson and donate blood or swab to see if they were a match at Be the Match's bone marrow registry. Each donor recieved a $5 gift card to In-N-Out as a thank you for their contribution.

University of Redlands students contribute more than 100,000 hours of community service annually.
