Children's Literature Festival

Children's Literature Festival

The University of Redlands Charlotte Huck Children's Literature Festival is now in its 17th year of celebrating the best in children's literature and the people behind it. This interactive conference offers educators the opportunity together share their passion for children's books and to meet and spend time with children's book authors and illustrators.

Caldecott Honor Medalist Denise Fleming has been added to the Festival Schedule. Other award winning speakers scheduled for Festival 2013 include Bryan Collier, Judy Fradin, Kristine O’Connell George, Mike Graf, Anita Silvey, Marilyn Singer and publisher Allyn Johnston. Marilyn Carpenter will return to share the best books of the past year.

Focusing on children's literature grades K-8, Children’s Literature Festival 2013 will feature what attendees have called “the best breakout sessions I have ever attended.” Presentations by educators, librarians, authors, illustrators, and scholars in the field of children's literature are geared to the interests of primary grades, middle grades, librarians, parents, grandparents, aspiring writers, and those who love children’s literature. Many of the offerings reflect the move toward Common Core Standards and heightened emphasis on nonfiction text and poetry.
