Business Skills for Artists

University of Redlands Theatre Arts speaker event

The University of Redlands Theatre Arts Department invites the public to "An Evening of Artists with Successful Business Skills," at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Frederick Loewe Theatre.

Guest speakers Patrick Norris, Eric Pierpoint and Rene Millan will talk about the entrepreneurial skills needed for success, followed by a session of Q&A. Theatre Arts Chair Chris Beach said the idea behind the event, which he hopes is the first of many speaker events presented this year, is to teach students and artists "how to think strategically as a business person and to enhance their artistry."

  • Patrick Norris is a director, producer, costume designer, screen writer and musician. He has worked on multiple television shows including "Hart of Dixie", "Gossip Girl", "Star Trek: Enterprise", "Dawson’s Creek" and "The O.C."
  • Eric Pierpoint is a University of Redlands alumnus, actor and novelist who has worked on stage, television and film. His work includes "The Mentalist"," Liar Liar", "Hart of Dixie", "Alien Nation" and "Parks and Recreation."
  • Rene Millan is also a University of Redlands alumnus and actor. His resume includes film, television and stage acting. He has worked on "24", "CSI: Miami", "Weeds", "In America" and "Days of Our Lives."
