Speaker’s Bureau Event: How a Trip to Mars Can Re-Ignite Your Business

Dr. Tyler Nordgren will speak on Mars and Business at the University of Redlands Rancho Cucamonga Location

REDLANDS, Nov. 8, 2012 – The University of Redlands School of Business continues its Speaker’s Bureau series on November 13 at the Rancho Cucamonga location. Join us as University of Redlands Professor Dr. Tyler Nordgren discusses how strategies to uncover unknown variables in space travel relate to business. Learn about how the same goal setting and teamwork concepts used to successfully interact with a Mars rover can apply to solving complex business problems in today’s economy.

Topics will include:

  • Curiosity, a sundial, and Mars in living color
  • A diverse proposition with a winning goal
  • Thinking big for successes great and small
  • Astronomy and business uncommonly common

Tyler Nordgren is a professor of physics and astronomy and alum of the University of Redlands. Dr. Nordgren has written peer-reviewed articles on subjects ranging from dark matter in galaxies to the pulsation of stars that are the foundation of our understanding of the size and age of the Universe. In 2004, NASA’s Spirit and Opportunity rovers landed on Mars carrying sundials, or “Marsdials” on board which Dr. Nordgren helped design with a team of seven other scientists and artists. A third “Marsdial” that Dr. Nordgren helped design is onboard NASA’s newest rover, Curiosity, which landed on Mars in August 2012.

The event is free and open to the public.
