9/11 Observance

The Office of the Chaplain invites members of the campus and Redlands community to join in the observance events marking the 11th anniversary of the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. This Tuesday, on Sept. 11, community members are invited to gather for the annual candlelight vigil on the steps of Memorial Chapel, between 5:46 a.m. and 6:03 a.m., marking the times that two planes struck the Twin Towers in New York City. It will be a quiet time to simply stand together and remember.

This year, the vigil will include a first year student at the University, Angel Lozoya, who will be playing Classical Guitar. He will play, Cancion de el Emperador and Guardame las Vacas by Luyz de Narvaez, Greensleeves by anonymous, and Study by Fernando Sor.

There are more than 1,700 trees on the University of Redlands campus.

In April 2010, it was designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Redlands is among just three other colleges or universities in California to receive this designation.
