Emily Sernaker

The University of Redlands “My Tour” video, based on alumna Emily Sernaker’s rap song, garnered its 20,000th view on the University’s YouTube channel August 23.

The video–based on the rap song drafted by Sernaker during her time as a University tour guide–features students, alumni, bulldog mascot Thurber and a dancing University of Redlands President James Appleton on a virtual tour of the campus. Sernaker said during production she hoped viewers would learn a lot about the University, and “have a good laugh as well.”

Other students and alums said they hoped the video would encourage prospective students to choose Redlands.

The University received a 2011 Bronze Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America in the external video category for its "My Tour" video. Only 55 organizations among 717 entries received the national recognition.
