Former Riverside County Undersheriff and University of Redlands alumna Valerie Hill talked about principles of leadership during a speaker's bureau event at 6 p.m. July 21 at the University's School of Business, Temecula campus.
Hill spoke about how to:
- Use a leadership role to inspire others
- Make a choice that will ultimately define you
- Survive a leadership role during challenging times
- Infuse passion into your leadership journey
Hill worked 33 years for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department and was the first female to hold the position of undersheriff in Riverside County. She was also the first female hostage negiotiator and assistant sheriff.
She has been honored by the University Town & Gown as a "Woman of Distinction," and received similar awards from the YWCA, Inland Empire Magazine and the Law Enforcement Appreciation Committee.
