DESCRIPTION:   Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), the Digital Marketing Specialist employs communication and marketing field-specific knowledge, skills, and experience to support or directly coordinate and manage digital marketing programs that generate prospective students for the University’s graduate and professional programs, including new online degree programs launching in fall, 2017.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Act as first and ongoing contact for external digital marketing agency and online education marketing partner. Attend weekly meetings, prepare strategic and operational agendas, help keep projects on track, provide feedback to agencies on performance metrics and account administration matters, and coordinate daily among departments on ongoing marketing projects.
• With CCO as necessary, review/approve all creative materials for these outreach programs: Web microsites, digital advertising copy, blogposts, social media posts, collateral, etc.
• Coordinate/collaborate daily with the Director of Graduate & Professional Recruitment and others in Enrollment Management, and with Communications colleagues including Social Media Manager, in executing the above activities.
• Monthly, collaborate with the CCO, academic deans, Enrollment leadership, external partners, and others to assess success and make needed adjustments to promotional priorities and investments.
• Set and manage the relevant marketing budgets with CCO.
• May collaborate with Creative Services team on other University admissions materials and perform copywriting on projects as required.
• May support CCO in overseeing advertising and other paid promotional activities, assist with paid media planning, with creative material reviews, and with occasional in-house advertising creative fulfillment, etc.
• Assist in data and other content-gathering and preparation of reports on graduate & professional recruitment, especially for President’s Cabinet or Trustee presentations.
• Collaborate with colleagues using department-wide project management and other tools.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   Bachelor's degree is required, ideally in a communications or marketing-related program. A minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience is required, preferably in higher education or another non-profit arena. Executive-level interaction and experience highly preferred. Occasional work outside of regular hours is required; deadline-critical projects will sometimes require the position to put in extra time to see projects through to timely completion. Required experience includes digital marketing/lead-generation strategies and tactics; e.g., Google advertising, social media advertising, and other electronic and Web-based outreach. Desired knowledge, skills and abilities include: broader integrated communications and marketing knowledge, experience, skills, and interest. Must have independent judgment, ability to work autonomously, and highly-developed communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of and exposure to specific disciplines of communications and marketing, especially paid media, promotion/publicity, and creative functions is highly desirable. California Driver's license and a good driving record are required.
