Building the Next Generation of Feminist Leaders, Scholars, and Advocates

What is Gen F?

Generation Feminist (or Gen F) is a national two-week social justice summer fellowship for undergraduate students of all genders. This program is a collaboration between the Center for Educational Justice at the University of Redlands, the Women's Center at Bowling Green State University, and the Susan B. Anthony Center at the University of Rochester. Grounded in the feminist history of the greater Rochester area and hands-on experience working at Willow Domestic Violence Center, this program provides undergraduates interested in social justice, human services, non-profit management, gender-based violence, and feminism(s) with an opportunity to participate in leadership development, research and program evaluation, and experiential learning for social change.

Experience contemporary feminism in the birthplace of women’s rights.

Using a feminist praxis approach to instruction, fellows will participate in self-exploration for social change. With workshops, historic site visits, and service projects focused on developing a greater awareness and deeper understanding of self, others, social issues, and the efficacy to make change upon completion of the fellowship participants will be able to:

FELLOWSHIP LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. understand the history of feminism(s) and feminist organizations;
2. identify how feminist knowledge is constructed;
3. recognize how feminist values shape leadership;
4. apply research, advocacy, and leadership skills to affect social change; and
5. construct a career plan for professional growth as a feminist leader for social change.
