A Look Back at the Centennial Campaign

Thank you!  You are one of the 17,403 donors who contributed a total of $106,720,128 during the historic Centennial Campaign.  This effort has helped to further transform the University of Redlands, and we are so grateful for your support.

While we have achieved much, the University has no intention of resting on its laurels.  President Stuart Dorsey is focused on creating a bold plan for our future, with an emphasis on ensuring our core points of excellence, while becoming educational entrepreneurs in a rapidly changing environment.

Over the 60 years of our involvement with the University, there has been one constant - the University of Redlands exists to change lives.  It changedours, and it is our intention to ensure that this unique institution is sustained and made better to change the lives of future generations of students.

Here are a few Centennial Campaign highlights we would like to share with you:

 · The Centennial Campaign helped to double the University's endowment over six years, from $59 million in 2001 to $125 million in 2007.

· Ten new endowed chairs were established, as well as 51 new endowed scholarships.
· We continued the work of modernizing the campus and have now spent more than $190 million to upgrade and build new facilities over the last 17 years.
· Annual giving to the Redlands Fund grew from $1.5 million in 2001 to $2.2 million last year.
· 7,851 donors last year was a new record in a single year.  This increase resulted in a 24% undergraduate giving percentage, placing us among the highest rate for colleges and universities in the West.

You should also know that plans for our future are taking shape.  In the fall of 2006, President Dorsey appointed the President's Committee on the Second Century to ensure that while we celebrated our centennial, we used this opportunity for important planning.  The results of the planning process will be published later this year, and we hope you will be inspired to deepen your relationship with the University.

We are blessed with abundant success, loyal alumni and friends, wonderful leadership and excellent students.  Once again, thank you for your support of the Centennial Campaign.  We could not have done it without you.

All our best,
